Meet Award-Winning Wedding and Portrait Photographer Rachel Smook

If you're....

madly in love
adventurous
creative
fun-loving
sentimental
and
passionate about memories

...you’re in the right place, friend.

I’m Rachel, and I’m a wedding, portrait, and Bar Mitzvah photographer based in Massachusetts and willing to travel as far as your dreams will take you. As the parent of teenagers, I’ve learned that everything is better with some humor thrown in, and I’ve also learned how FAST life goes by. Photography gives me a way to stop time, both for my family and for yours. I’m a sucker for the little details: those tiny fingers wrapped around yours, the way he looks at you when you come down the aisle, the way you laughed at that little shimmy she did on the dance floor. It’s the little moments that make the sweetest memories, and I’m a feelings junkie, so I am THERE for them. I believe that laughter is good medicine, that love is love, and that memories are worth keeping.

I get to know my clients well and have never had a bridezilla. I love photographing the real person-- soulful, hilarious, complicated, emotional; if you can feel it, I can capture it. Bring me true emotions over a serious pose any day. I’ll laugh along with you, and I don’t promise that I won’t choke up when you share your vows or when your child lights her candles. (I do promise that I won’t ugly cry-- although if you do, I’ll get fabulous photos of it.)

I’m also a licensed psychologist, and that means I know how to help you feel comfortable and at ease, and I’m very good at soothing anxious couples and skeptical children. I am committed to building a purposeful and joyful life for myself and my family, and I enjoy helping my clients relax and savor the joy in their special moments, too. The human story is my life’s work. I connect to people quickly, make lifelong friends, and prioritize my connections to the people I love.

And while I love to play, I’m very serious about my work. I’m a lifelong student and will always look for new things to learn and new ideas to try. I believe in the value of a printed photograph, because everybody knows somebody whose phone has fallen in a puddle or whose hard drive has failed. I love Instagram as much as anybody, but the picture on my piano of my grandparents on their wedding day is the kind of thing I want to leave behind.

I most often work with my photography partner, Andy Weigl, and together we bring a serious work ethic and a lot of fun to your portraits and events. We have been close friends for years and can anticipate each other's moves and needs, so we're good at nodding our heads at each other in a way that makes one of us spring into action to capture something the other is in the wrong place to catch. Our clients frequently tell us that it's easy to see both how hard we work and how much we love what we do. We offer a joyful, friendly dynamic with a high standard for our work, and we craft images you'll be so happy to have in your home.

If you love to laugh, treasure life’s authentic moments, have a taste for the finer things, and care about capturing your memories, we’ll have a wonderful time together. I’m excited to talk with you!
